SketchUp for Desktop, Web and iPad
An easy-to-use interface with intuitive tools for designing in 3D. SketchUp Pro features PreDesign, an early-stage research tool that provides designers of buildings, outdoor spaces, and master plans with the information they need to properly factor climate insights into their initial concepts. PreDesign improves the end result by better-informing designers with accurate information to influence preliminary solutions.
New Photoreal Materials
Photoreal Materials are now available as a new face style enabling materials with physically based rendering (PBR) textures to react dynamically to the light and surroundings of a model’s environment.
Extension Migrator
The Extension Migrator is a new SketchUp Labs extension that helps migrate your other extensions when updating SketchUp to a new version.
Generate Textures with AI
With the help of AI, SketchUp will suggest settings for Metalness, Roughness, Normal, and Ambient Occlusion appropriate for the material and automatically update that material within your model. An internet connection is required to use Generate Textures.
Quality of Life Changes
With 2025 comes a number of changes to the Modeling Tool as well as Interoperability imptovements with Revit and IFC. V-Ray can now be downloaded along side SketchUp meaning you won't have to go searching for it.
**V-Ray will not be installed automatically so head to your downloads folder and run the installer to get started.
Revit Importer for SketchUp
The Revit import feature within a Studio subscription allows you to accurately and efficiently convert your Revit models into SketchUp geometry for deeper collaboration across project phases, teams, and stakeholders. Various workarounds exist to export Revit models to SketchUp, but this importer saves the most time, is more accurate in geometry conversion, and leads to much lighter models.
By preserving model structures between Revit and SketchUp – Revit families and layers neatly translate to groups, components, and tags in SketchUp. You can save hours or even days of model cleanup and progress your project with accuracy. A smoother transition between design phases allows you to focus on what’s essential - fine-tuning your vision.
V-Ray for SketchUp
V-Ray for SketchUp is a photorealistic, physically-based rendering solution that helps designers better visualise their models. Additional features include real-time rendering capabilities with V-Ray Vision. Also included as part of V-Ray for Sketchup is Chaos Cosmos — a high quality and curated render-ready content platform is also part of the offering. Users can directly download content into Sketchup, drastically increasing efficiency without impacting performance.
Finally, V-Ray for SketchUp Studio also gives you access to Chaos Cloud and Chaos Credits, which enables users to do fast rendering by sending render jobs over to Chaos' super-computers for processing. High-quality rendering usually takes a lot of computation resources and will run much slower with a lower-spec machine. Chaos Cloud credits are used to ‘pay’ for the cloud renderings. We're including 20 Chaos Cloud credits for new SketchUp Studio subscribers to get customers started within the first 90 days of their subscription. The 90-day period begins when the subscription is assigned to an end-user. If you’re an existing Studio subscriber, the 90-day period begins today. Cloud credits do not transfer to other users. These credits are not available in a trial.
LayOut
The same easy-to-use UI and tools, but for designing in 2D. LayOut helps you show your client that you’ve captured what you have discussed, and move the project forward confidently. SketchUp's New Graphics Engine
Sketchup 2024 introduced a powerful new graphics engine that comes with some additional requirements however this can still be turned off and you can continue to use the classic engine:
For MacOS, you must use version 12.3.1 or above. We recommend at least 13 and above for optimal performance.
The following MacOS GPUs are unsupported:
- Intel HD Graphics 5000
- Intel HD Graphics 6000
- Intel Iris Graphics
- Intel Iris Graphics 6100
- Intel Iris Pro Graphics
The following Windows GPUs are unsupported:
- Intel HD Graphics 4x00 series
For MacOS, the new renderer requires Metal 2 support. For more information on MacOS versions satisfying this requirement see Apple's Metal support page.

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU):Discrete GPU
Note: Discrete GPU refers to anything that is not built into the motherboard. Usually, this is a different brand to the CPU or processor. Ensure your GPU can handle raytracing. Generally, NVIDIA GPUs that mention RTX and Radeon GPUs that mention RX will be able to handle ray tracing. If you are unsure if your GPU is correct or are looking to purchase a new GPU, feel free to contact our support team for advice.
Scan Essentials
We would recommend 16GB RAM for this but more if your point clouds are extrmely large.
